Climate.The Great Plains region is very dry. Some of the most common weather issues are droughts and dust storms. Dust storms are when the wind stirs up a lot of dirt and dust from the ground and blows it around in the air. This region also has scorching hot summers and freezing cold winters. You might even see some snow during the winter.

VegetationTrees in this region are few and far between and in the northern part of the region. The rest of the region is covered in short prairie grass or no grass at all.

LandformsThis region doesn't have many landforms other than deserts, plateaus, and canyons. The region is also very flat. There are some plateaus and canyons, but not very many of them. There is also the Cap Rock escarpment in this region.

OpportunitiesRanching is a large industry in the Great Plains. Sheep, cattle, and goats are raised here and the short grass of the prairie is used for grazing. Oil and Gas is another major industry. Both oil and natural gas can be found in this region and drilling for it employs many people. Farming is also a major part of the region's economy. Farmers use irrigation from wells and the rich soil of the prairie to grow cotton and wheat.

ResourcesThere are few trees in this region, but the few there are are mesquite, cedar, pecan, and oak trees. Deer and wild turkeys are commonly found here. The rich soil here is used to grow wheat and cotton and the prairie grass is good for grazing cattle, sheep, and goats.Oil and Gas are found here and drilling for them is easy because there are so few large cities.
